What is beauty?

It seems that our culture rates beauty on some shape or form. The actors and actresses of Hollywood are depicted as beautiful. However it seems that in recent years a lot of these sung hero's are leading very ugly lives yet looking very "beautiful".

I knew a very "beautiful" person once, or I should say I knew of them. They however had very little time for people. I liked this person or rather I liked being able to be near them. I eventually discovered that a "beautiful" person is not always beautiful because of their looks.

The exact dictionary definition of beautiful is as follows.

having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind

To the eyes a person maybe very beautiful but to know them maybe unsatisfactory. In fact it could be downright miserable.
I honestly believe that you could find the most beautiful person and by our cultures standards they be downright ugly.
A person that possesses quality's that are delightful to people, that are desirable in fact a very beautiful person.
Scripture puts it like this in these two passages,

1 Peter 3:3-4
3Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses;
4but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

1 Timothy 4:8
8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

What is beauty?
I believe beauty is something that comes from within. It is something that is worked for, not something that is given without cause. Beauty is one of discipline in life.
A beautiful person is one that most will miss if they are not looking and even when they are it will take some work.
Only a beautiful person can find another beautiful person. That is because those two people were truly disciplining themselves to be beautiful to all people.
