Snake

"Come and join me! It will be fun"
My friend snake stands in the doorway excitedly, telling me of his latest idea. His new idea is not much different than his last idea or the one before that.
Snake is forever banging on my door and calling me begging me to come on his newest exhibition. He promises some of the most outlandish things. Complete satisfaction, never-ending fun, so much better than the best thing ever.
Snake is the best salesman history has ever known. Snake is also older than written history.
"Come on!" Snake continues to beg, now getting anxious.
"I can't" I retort
"Can't or won't?" He returns.
"Won't!" I answer quickly.
"Why it has never stopped you in the past, you have done this time and time again, you know you love it." Snake says with glee.
"I just won't" I say, then I get up to close the door.
Snake stands smiling at me, showing his two missing teeth in the front of his smile. He received this broken smile from someone who rejected his prodding no matter how much he tried to convince them.
"Aw come on don't close the door this time it will be better than last time." Snake pleads.
"Its wrong" I return
"Who's going to know?" He says waving his hand in the air.
"I'll know and that's enough" I say remorsefully.
"So what?! its going to be so worth it! I promise..."
I begin closing the door
"I promise this is the last time" Snake pleads as the door closes.
I lean my head against the wall. How many times have I been here? To many but maybe Snake is telling the truth. In truth I like Snakes ideas, but they never are what he promises.
I open the door again; Snake is there still.
"The very last time?" I question.
"The very last time..." Snake says with a smile.
"You said that the last time." I report
"I know but I didn't know about this one last time" Snake answers.
"Okay let me get ready" I say
"Alright that's what I am talking about!" Snake says gleefully.

Soon we are riding in Snakes Mustang heading toward our newest destination. Within moments of arriving the promised thrill has ended and it was not even as great as some in the past in fact it was worse.
Snake quickly names off several other destinations that we can go to immediately.
"No I would rather not..., Snake you lied to me! You lied to me again!"
I want to punch Snake but when I turn in my fury to assault him, he is already gone. I am sure he is going to another one of his friends.
It always ends this way, time and time again. When will I learn to lock the door and not let Snake in?
Now I have to call my ride...

Who is Snake?
